Ever since Apple announced its revamped iPad Pro 9.7 earlier this year, there has been rumors that the iPad Mini may also be getting a new update soon. Apple fans may not need to wait for long as speculation of release date, new specs and features are circulating around the web.
The much-awaited version of the iPad Mini line may be released early next year. Many news outlets are speculating that the successor to the iPad Mini 4 is slated to launch sometime in March 2017. However, Apple has not made any comments regarding an update to the iPad Mini line just yet.
Rumors also added that iPad Mini 5 may be renamed to iPad Mini Pro as the company has been promoting its Pro line, most notably with its recently launched MacBook Pro. Some say that it would be launched together with the iPad Pro line.
As for its features, it is reported that the new iPad Mini 5 will be thinner than its predecessor by 1.1mm. The new iPad is said to measure at only 5.5mm. Other reports also mentioned that Apple will cut a few millimeters off the bezel just like iPad Pro. It also rumored to be lighter as well.
Some fans are concerned by its thinness as it may compromise the battery life. This may not become a problem though as battery technology has evolved and improved since a year ago. Better battery technology means that the thinner and lighter iPad Mini 5 may still perform as long or much longer than it previous versions.
Some reports also announced a 7.9-inch retina display. However, others say it will feature an OLED display for the first time, which offers better colors. The rumors are also split regarding the processor. Some say it will have an A10 processor while others speculate an A9.
Not much difference have been reported for the camera, though. This means that it will likely have an 8MP back camera and 1.2MP front shooter.
Perhaps the best speculation that fans are raving about is the inclusion of the 3D touch for the iPad Mini 5, much like the newer iPhones. Fans are hopeful that these features and specs will be added in the newest iPad Mini line. That is, of course, if Apple would indeed release a new version of the iPad Mini next year.
