'Dancing With The Stars' Season 21: Bindi Irwin Thinking Of Dad Steve Irwin, Says: 'I'm Hoping to Make Dad Proud'

Bindi Irwin, daughter of the late "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin, hopes to make her daddy proud as she officially joins "Dancing With The Stars" season 21.

"Dad was that one person who no matter what he did in life he just took it by storm, and he was so passionate and just really lived in the moment," 17-year-old Irwin said, as per ABC News. "Whatever the opposite of a procrastinator is, that was him... and I think I kind of inherited a little bit of that. I'm hoping to make dad proud."

"Dad is and always will be my living, breathing superhero," Irwin told ET Online.

Appearing in ABC's "Good Morning America," Irwin announced that she's going to be part of DWTS' new season. ABC News reports that dancing is her hobby since she was a little girl.

"Living in a zoo means it wasn't always sparkly dresses but I would still dress up. I had this pink sparkly dress and fairy wings and I'd put those on and then go and dance in the zoo," she said in an interview with ABC News. "My best friend was a magpie goose and my magpie goose would follow me around and we'd dance in the zoo together. Then I'd be covered in mud! My poor fairy dress - my mom has washed it more times [than I can count]!"

Referring to DWTS, Irwin jokingly said as per ET Online, "The judges scare me more than crocodiles." Then she shares how excited she is.

Announced as the "first star of the season" in the DWTS Facebook page, Irwin expressed her heartfelt excitement.

"I am unbelievably thrilled and truly blessed to be in the City of Angels to be part of this season of Dancing With The Stars," said Irwin. "This will be a completely new adventure for me and I'm excited to share my journey. Life is about daring to dream, I'm in love with this city and ready to fall in love with the music and dance to come."

CNN reports that she first appeared on television with her dad when she was just a baby. She was eight years old when Steve died, killed by a stingray.

Instead of just hiding away from the public after her father's death, she decided to continue her parents' work in wildlife conservation. She has starred in various shows such as "Bindi: The Jungle Girl," "Bindi's Bootcamp" and "Steve Irwin's Wildlife Warriors."

The full list of "Dancing with the Stars" season 21 participants will be released on Sept. 2.
