Zoo Lake Incident Affect 33 Children's Health, Causing Breathing Problems

The children had been swimming in the Zoo Lake Pool when the incident happened. Thirty-three of them were taken to the hospitals situated in Johannesburg.

Those 33 swimmers were said to have been underwing the exhausts or fumes of the acidic pool. This was reported by the first aiders, according to The Eyewitness News.

The children between the ages of six to sixteen were declared to have been suffering a tough time when breathing; the concequences were quite severe. ER24 had a number of transportations present at the scene which were providing different services.

The exact cause of this incident was still under search. But the aid conductors which were the initial treatment givers made one thing totally clear; that was the presence of something toxic in the water that led to the happening of this.

The inhaling of that poisonous fume being discharged in the pool water was so dangerous that when some of it was gulped in during the act of swimming or even when it was breathed in, the result proved to be threatening and precarious.

Athlenda Mathe who is the speaker of Nectar 911, reported that these symptoms had already shown the children were going through respiratory discomfort. The policemen and the fire brigade of Johannesburg were also called to the place of an incident for further investigation.

As The Metro Tell says further reporting the incident that in defense, it was said that the incident did not occur because of the irresponsibility of authorities or officials, it is somehow the act of the ''nature''. They are saying that the chemical was used to purify a nearby lake, but the wind carried it to the pool, affecting the users and raising acidic content of the air surrounding the pool.
