The annual MTV Video Music Awards is fast approaching, and many are already wondering who will be performing in the big event. Well, one need not wonder anymore because MTV has already announced the performers in the upcoming VMAs.
According to HollywoodLife, on Tuesday, MTV released the roster of talents who will give life and color to the 2015 MTV VMAs, which will be held on Sunday, Aug. 30. The report suggests that the "Bad Blood" singer Taylor Swift, her best friend Selena Gomez and Bruno Mars are all set to perform.
Among the artists who will perform live at the event are Pharrell, Demi Lovato, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Tori Kell, A$AP Rocky and Twenty One Pilots. The Weeknd will also set the stage on fire by performing his blockbuster single "Can't Feel My Face," Variety reports.
Variety further adds that Kanye West will be the new recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award during the ceremony, but it is not yet confirmed if he will be performing.
However, HollywoodLife says that West is among the performers, and many are expecting so much from him. Past recipients of the Vanguard Award had been all out in their performances when they received the honor.
Beyonce received the same award in the previous year, and she was not only given an impressive montage of her hit songs, her husband Jay-Z and their daughter Blue Ivy Carter even joined her on stage.
In 2013, actor, singer and songwriter Justin Timberlake was the recipient of the same award. The "Cry Me a River" singer did not just surprise the audience by performing his solo hits, but, for the first time, NSYNC reunited on stage after their split in early 2000.
With the past recipients' amazing performances and surprises, too much is expected from West. Will his wife "Keeping Up With the Kardashian" star Kim Kardashian and talented daughter North "Nori" West join him during the event? Maybe, let's see.
In a separate report from Variety, West first performed in VMAs in 2004 with a medley of "Jesus Walks/All Falls Down/Through the Wire" featuring Chaka Khan in 2004. He is popular for his VMA performances, including his renditions of "Blood on the Leaves" in 2013, "Runaway" in 2010 and "Gold Digger" featuring Jamie Foxx in 2005. Thus, it is just reasonable to anticipate a spectacular performance from the artist who will be receiving an award during the event.
The award that West is about to receive is considered as VMA's highest honor that was also given to Madonna and Jackson himself.
Additional performers will be announced as the ceremony gets closer. The VMAs will air at 9 p.m. on Sunday.
