Long-running series "Criminal Minds" is said to have hit a bumpy road in terms of ratings as it was reported that viewers decide to ditch the show. Two of the major casts, Shemar Moore and Thomas Gibson left the show, where it was mentioned that Gibson was actually fired from the series.
Weeks after Aaron Hotchner's exit, "Criminal Minds" fans were highly affected as it was announced that several petitions were raised to boycott the show. Viewers then took social media by storm as #NoHochNoWatch became one of the most used hashtags.
As of the latest update in regards to the show's ratings, it was announced that the series made a visible drop in terms of viewership. Deadline pointed out that the ratings drastically dropped to 7.73 million viewers, compared to the 14 million viewers that have been following the show from 2014 to 2015.
"Criminal Minds" is already in its 12th year when Gibson and Moore left the series. Gibson's exit negatively impacted the show's ratings as Hotch's character was never absent from the show ever since it launched its first episode.
TV Ratings Finale then added that the 12th season of "Criminal Minds" barely reached 8 million viewers over the last 5 episodes, and was not able to reach the 9 million mark for the entire 12 season. With the significant impact of Gibson and Moore's absence, it remains unclear as to whether the duo would still make a comeback or not.
Gibson once opened up about the incident that led to his suspension, as E! mentioned that he allegedly kicked Virgil Williams. Though these allegations were yet to be confirmed, it was mentioned that Gibson made an effort to clear himself.
"I feel like it took years to make a good reputation and a minute to damage it," Thomas said during an interview. "We had some choice words, for which I apologized the next day, and that was it. It was over. We shot the scene, I went home - and I never got to go back."
There are no updates as to whether the show will be canceled or not, but the decrease in viewers highly affected the show's ratings. Are you still interested in having Thomas Gibson back on the show? Do let us know through the comment section below.
