'A Series Of Unfortunate Events' Spoilers: Expect Musical Numbers! Season 2 Not Confirmed Says Neil Patrick Harris

Netflix's adaptation of "A Series of Unfortunate Events," which launches on the streaming platform on Friday, Jan. 13, is going to have a few musical numbers. Star Neil Patrick Harris confirms that he will be singing as Count Olaf. He also said that while Season 2 is being prepared, Netflix has yet to give a greenlight for the family show's follow up.

Neil Patrick Harris revealed via AV Club that "A Series of Unfortunate Events" will be faithful to the book series written by Daniel Handler. But there will still be a few differences between the book and the TV show, especially with the addition of the musical numbers.

"Olaf sings a big random musical number called 'The Count,' which is his welcoming song to the kids when they first arrive," the actor shared to the news outlet. Nick Urata was hired as the musical supervisor for "A Series of Unfortunate Events" and he also wrote the show's theme song.

It's still unclear who will be the voice singing the theme song. But ASOUE director Barry Sonnenfeld and Daniel Handler, who also serves as executive producer of the Netflix show, both love the music aspect of the series.

"A Series of Unfortunate Events" Season 1 will have eight episodes covering four books out of 13. As Parent Herald previously reported, the scripts for Season 2, which covers the next five books, are already finished even before the show is launched.

Despite this, Neil Patrick Harris said that show's renewal is not yet a done deal. "If we're lucky enough," the actor said in reference to "A Series of Unfortunate Events" Season 2, according to Collider.

"A Series of Unfortunate Events" is based on a children's literature about three orphaned kids who have to live with a distant relative. That relative happens to have sinister plans of making sure that the kids' inheritance all goes to him and him alone.

Aside from Neil Patrick Harris, "A Series of Unfortunate Events" also stars Patrick Warburton, Malina Weissman, Louis Hynes, Aasif Mandvi, Joan Cusack, Catherine O'Hara and Alfre Woodward. Catch the first season on Netflix on Jan. 13, 2017.
