Four-Year-Old Bristol Girl Saves Entire Family From Fire, Wakes Up Everyone Before The Fire Could Do More Harm

A four-year-old girl was hailed as a hero by her family after she was able to wake everyone up inside their home after a fire started at the bottom of her bed. Her father took to Facebook to talk about the incident.

The child, identified as Lily-Rose Doherty woke up at around 4:20 a.m. on Dec. 12 when she found the flames at the bottom of her bed and her teddy bears were on fire. Daily Mirror reported that the toddler then went to her eldest sister's bedroom and sounded the alarm. This woke up the whole family and they were able to get out of their home uninjured.

The father of Lily-Rose, Martin Doherty, took to Facebook to talk about what happened. Martin said that it was a scary experience but his daughter is a true hero. He said that their kids were the first to wake up and they ran downstairs to wake their parents up. He noted that if the kids did not wake them up they would have all died.

The mother of Lily-Rose, Tanya Cornford, added, "The firefighters were amazing and so was the Red Cross. They came round and arranged for my medication to be processed really quickly, because I have epilepsy." The names of the two other children at the home are said to be Skye, 16, and Paige, 12, International Business Times reported.

The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault. The home was engulfed in flames after the family was able to make it out alive. The community is said to be helping to raise funds for the family as they lost everything from the fire.

The family is now living with the mother of Cornford and that they plan to move into an emergency accommodation before Christmas. Even the Christmas presents for the kids were lost in the fire. Some of the residents offered them furniture and many more in an attempt to help the family get back to their feet.
