For Curry fans, as the Dubs look to defend their NBA Championship title, more good news is ahead as the basketball heartthrob admits he's happy where he is.
The point guard recently told Sporting News' Jimmy Carter that even though he's up for unrestricted free agency in 2017, free agency "isn't really appealing" to him.
"It helps being world champs and you want to continue to build the momentum that we've established and I hope to have a huge part of that in the long term," quoted the publication of Curry during a recent golf event.. "But I think the best approach for me is to try and stay as in the moment as possible.
The site notes that it's most likely the Warriors will make a move to sign Curry before he hits free agency but as it stands, the athlete is content to stay where he is. The publication further analyzed that Curry is in an ideal situation where the team is comprised of a lot of new talent with massive support in terms of ticket sales. Going into a new contract negotiation, Steph will likely be able to sign a massive salary increase which will see him taking home somewhere around $30 million annually.
The current fifth highest-paid player also notes the importance of staying in the moment and not getting "too ahead of yourself." Curry is locked in for a four-year, $44 million deal since 2012. This coming season, he' set to make $11.3 million and $12.1 million in 2016-17.
