For adults, babies look like they can't really do anything but sleep, eat, poop and pee. But studies show that babies can do more than that, especially on a psychological level. Apparently, they could tell whether a person is good or bad, which means they have a moral sense.
In an article published by The Huffington Post, a study by Karen Wynn from Yale University said babies have the ability to have a good judgment of the character of other people. Researchers used puppet shows to prove this and showed babies some characters in the show who would interact with them in ways like an adult would view as good or bad. For example, one character would help another character and another would be hitting and would be mean towards another.
Through this, researchers observed that babies were able to determine who they want to reward and who they want to punish. This just meant that babies have an idea about moral judgment. If they can tell who is good or bad, then they are not completely ignorant about morality.
Some would even argue that babies have an even better judgment of character towards other people, but scientists and child psychologists haven't gone that far in proving that theory just yet. However, there are also some studies that pertain to babies and their grasp on what is just and fair. All of these just show that at an early stage, humans have that ability to tell what's right and wrong, and being a good person is established in their system.
CNN had an article that supports this study and they said that for a long time, psychologists thought that babies just have blank slates. They also believed that parents and the environment usually shape a person's morality. That has changed now after scientists themselves have proven it based on babies' reaction to their little experiment.
