The second pregnancy is a totally different experience for Jessica Simpson. The pregnant Fashion Star mentor, who hesitated to completely give up high heels during her first pregnancy, has already switched to flats in her second one.
"Practicing walking in flats around my house," Simpson wrote, March 29.
The 32-year-old singer-actress, who is expecting her second child with fiancée, football player Eric Johnson, later revealed that some medical reasons played a major role in her decision.
"Jessica is no longer wearing heels," a source told Us Weekly. "Her feet are swollen and hurt, and high heels hurt her back."
During her first pregnancy, doctors had advised Simpson to totally avoid heels. "I went to the doctor yesterday and he said, 'You're gonna need to get out of those heels!'" she told Us Weekly in November 2011, a month after confirming her first pregnancy. "I was like, 'Excuse me! I'll be delivering in these heels!"
However, Simpson was spotted several times wearing dangerously high heels during her first pregnancy.
Simpson and Johnson welcomed their daughter Maxwell Drew May 1 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Speculation about Simpson's second pregnancy first hit the Internet in November. However, the expecting actress kept mum on the topic until she confirmed the news on Christmas Day in 2012. Simpson indirectly mentioned her second pregnancy by posting an adorable photo of her infant daughter Maxwell sitting on a beach, with the words "Big Sis" written on the sand.
In March 2013, during a chat with Jimmy Kimmel, Simpson revealed that she is expecting a baby boy. She also narrated how her baby boy is making her pregnancy a totally different experience for her.
"I just feel awful, I've been vomiting," People magazine quoted the mom-to-be explaining about her second pregnancy experiences during the show. "The crazy thing is, I never knew that a wiener could actually make me nauseous.
Doctors usually recommend women to avoid high heels during pregnancy, to ensure the safety of both the baby and the mother. According to them, it can lead to many risks, including calf cramps, fall hazard and slipped disc. Victoria Beckham was one of the celebrities who experienced a slipped disc after using high heels during her pregnancy.
