Sony Interactive Entertainment has finally published "Gravity Rush: The Animation - Overture." It is a 17-minute new anime available on Sony's YouTube channel. It intends to stitch together events of the 2012 "Gravity Rush" and the upcoming sequel "Gravity Rush 2," which is slated to come out on Jan. 20, 2017.
"Gravity Rush: The Animation - Overture" is produced by Studio Khara. This is the same studio behind "Rebuild of Evangelion" film tetralogy. The studio also contributed to "Persona 4" and "Halo Legends" anime.
Polygon reported that "Gravity Rush: The Animation - Overture" is included on Blu-ray along with "Gravity Rush 2" when it launches on PS4. The demo, meanwhile, is available on the PS Store.
The game's first outing was back in 2012 for PlayStation Vita. Then, the game then released for PS4 earlier this year as "Gravity Rush Remastered."
The sequel, "Gravity Rush 2," was originally due to be released this month. However, last October, Sony announced that there is a delay and the game will instead have a January 20, 2017, release. Also, Sony added, as a form of apology, that they are planning to offer a DLC pack for free. This is in the form of an "additional story" in the world of "Gravity Rush," according to GameSpot.
The anime "Gravity Rush: The Animation - Overture" follows the story of the Kat, "Gravity Rush" heroine, and her new gravity-shifting powers, as she fights an enemy out to destroy the universe. Other characters also make an appearance in the anime like Syd, Kat's cat, Raven, and Raven's crow. It offers a look at how Kat has grown as a person before going deeper into the center of the story.
"Gravity Rush 2" exclusively will be launched in North America and the UK beginning Jan. 20, while Australia and Europe will get to have the game on Jan. 18. Check out the Two-part "Gravity Rush: The Animation - Overture" anime below, as you wait until January knocks on your doorstep.
