Vincent D'Onofrio's status as the Marvel TV villain has become uncertain ever since his character has been locked in prison in "Daredevil." But the actor is still hoping his Wilson Fisk -- a.k.a Kingpin -- alter ego will return to the small screen. Only, he's not sure if when and where that will be.
Speaking with Collider, Vincent D'Onofrio revealed that he's still pretty much on board Marvel's TV shows on Netflix. His Kingpin role is still active but he doesn't have any details on when he has faced the cameras again.
"I wish I knew 'cause I could plan my year better," he told the news outlet. He also revealed that he loves working with Marvel for "Daredevil" as one of the most powerful baddies in Hell's Kitchen. "They let you bring this whole new thing to an iconic thing that they invented," he said.
But as Marvel is set to bring together four of its TV superheroes in "The Defenders" -- featuring "Daredevil," "Jessica Jones," "Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist" -- Vincent D' Onofrio has already confirmed that he won't be part of this production. Parent Herald previously reported that the actor was explicit in saying the Kingpin won't be in the other series. This doesn't mean, however, that he's off Marvel shows for good.
In March, "Daredevil" star Charlie Cox said that he's hoping Kingpin will still be part of the third season. "There's so much Daredevil-Wilson Fisk left untold," the actor said, according to Screen Crush.
Viewers might recall that Kingpin briefly appeared in "Daredevil" Season 2 towards the later episodes and was in almost every episode of the first season. "I'd love to see what that now does to the Daredevil-Fisk dynamic going forward if we were to do a season 3 or 4 or whatever," Cox further said.
"Daredevil" Season 3 won't begin filming until later in 2017, as production for "The Defenders" is still taking up Cox's time. As such, plot details and cast news for "Daredevil," have not yet trickled down. Until then, keep tabs of more news about Kingpin's potential return on this site.
