After a long time of being in Afghanistan, a local news reporter gets assigned to a small community in Northern California. However, this is not just any other ordinary peaceful and quiet small town. It is plagued with secrets that are probably better left alone. This is how the movie "Burn Country" revolves.
This is then impossible for the news reporter as he is assigned to crime beat for a local newspaper. As he digs deeper into the investigation, he finds out that the small town is different from the rest.
The movie "Burn Country" stars Dominic Rains, Melissa Leo, and James Franco. They are also joined by Rachel Brosnahan, Thomas Jay Ryan, Tim Kniffin and many more.
In this town, sex is casual and true friendship is certainly difficult and challenging to come by. There is also unfamiliar crime lurking in every street and corner of this small town which the reporter will soon uncover. This will then begin the challenging and thrilling life of the news reporter according to Movie Insider.
The movie "Burn Country" has mixed reviews since its nationwide release back in Dec. 9, 2016. According to Rotten Tomatoes, Neil Genzlinger of New York Times said that Mr. Rains, Ms. Leo, and Mr. Franco are all so interesting that you wish that they have more to bite into. But the movie has transfixing quality nonetheless.
Another review from Alan Scherstuhl of Village Voice said that the movie "Burn Country" at first scrappy and strange but an increasingly tough set as it goes. The movie never fixes its gaze on any singularly compelling idea.
For a movie which has a different approach to living up to its thrill factor, some factors may have been lost along the way. This then resulted in a somehow mediocre and mere satisfactory rating of the movie "Burn Country."
From Rotten Tomatoes's Tomatometer, the movie "Burn Country" only had a score of 64 percent. This is considerably lower compared to all movies released in the month of Dec. 2016. It only had an average rating of 6 out of a possible 10 points.
