Amal Alamuddin-Clooney is reportedly charting a career change. The human rights lawyer, who specializes in international law and extradition cases, allegedly wants to try her luck in Hollywood and her husband, George Clooney, is helping her land a TV series.
According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Amal is counting on George to help her snag the hosting spot for the NBC reality competition series "Celebrity Apprentice" after the network fired its former host, Donald Trump. TV executives want her, too, according to Express. "Basically we want Amal, although there are a couple of other prominent women in contention. We think she could be a perfect fit, if her schedule can be made to dovetail with shooting requirements."
The National Enquirer, on the other hand, reported that Amal already has plans for the show and would hope to keep filming "Celebrity Apprentice" in New York. But the tabloid further reported that George is also pitching a different series for his wife to TV networks, one that will be similar to a "Judge Judy" court TV show.
Yet according to Gossip Cop, this rumor has no truth to it. The news outlet pointed out that despite the specific details provided by the National Enquirer "source" that said Amal's court TV hosting gig would make them billionaires, a Clooney rep supposedly confirmed this to be a fabricated story.
Meanwhile, amidst the rumors swirling she's craving for attention from Hollywood, Amal is keeping herself busy with her work commitments. She's headed to fly to Maldives next week for her client, Mohamed Nasheed, the former Maldives President, who is now in prison for terrorism charges, according to People Magazine.
As the ex-president's defense lawyer, Amal wrote a piece on The Guardian urging the United Nations to release her client. "The charges against Nasheed were based on the 2012 arrest of an allegedly corrupt Maldivian judge. The judge's arrest was recast as a terrorist 'abduction,' even though there was no evidence Nasheed had ordered the arrest or knew about it in advance," she wrote.
Last weekend, Clooney's wife was in Egypt for the verdict of another client, a journalist from Al Jazeera, who allegedly belongs to the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist sect. He was sentenced to prison for three years and Amal condemned this verdict saying that it "sends a message that journalists can be locked up for simply doing their job, for telling the truth and reporting the news," according to Mail Online.
