Spoilers for the highly anticipated movie adaptation of manga "Ghost in the Shell" are now floating more details about the new film. The lead cast Scarlett Johansson (playing the role of Major Motoko Kusanagi) talked about her role and teased that the movie is "reflective, explosive, exciting and alluring."
Portraying the role of The Major in "Ghost in the Shell" movie adaptation, Johansson revealed at a fan event in Japan that her role is to prevent the artificial intelligence program from being destroyed by the villain. The actress admitted that portraying the role of a cyborg counter-cyberterrorism field commander is quite challenging for her.
Johansson detailed that when she received the copy of the script, it also came with the anime version of "Ghost in the Shell." Upon checking the script, the actress found the movie to be an intimidating job to do. She explained that considering the movie is like a philosophical kind of anime, it was quite scary to know how they can translate the anime into a film adaptation. In addition, Johansson also teased that the movie seems to be "alluring," DNA reported.
In another interview with Empire, Johansson detailed that her role in "Ghost in the Shell" movie is a mind trapped in a synthetic body. Fans can recall that the actress had previously portrayed the role of an artificial intelligence dwelling in a mobile phone in "Her." So the actress even joked in the said interview that she hopes to return to portraying the role of a body and brain altogether.
Furthermore, fans can expect the upcoming movie to have depth and substance. The actress also teased that the movie is "curious and reflective" aside from being "explosive and exciting." Also, the director told the magazine that this movie is not the "sh*t Hollywood version."
