BBC reported that "The Night Manager," which stars Olivia Colman and Hugh Laurie alongside Hiddleston, is a spy drama produced by BBC and AMC. It is a six-part thriller from the 1993 John Le Carre novel of the same name. Hiddleston won best performance by an actor in a mini-series or TV movie. He plays the role of the hotel's night manager but is actually a recruitment of the British government to infiltrate the arms dealer's inner circle. Colman also won best supporting actress in a series, mini-series, or TV movie. Laurie, who plays the arms dealer, also won best supporting actor in a series, mini-series, or TV Movie.
As for "The Crown," the series beat "Game of Thrones" and "Stranger Things" for the best TV drama series title. Foy, who plays the Queen in the Netflix series, was named best TV Drama actress and the show also won best TV drama. "The Crown" is about a British royal family from the 1950s.
Los Angeles Times also reported that "Atlanta" was a big winner. The series is about a homeless young African American trying to make it in the music scene with his rapper cousin. The show won awards for TV Series, comedy, and actor in a TV series, also comedy, for Glover, who is the lead actor in the series. Another FX show that won big in the Golden Globes 2017 is "The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story." It won the awards for limited series or motion picture made for TV and a best mini-series or TV movie was also given to actress Sarah Paulson.
Billy Bob Thornton, on the other hand, won the lead actor in a TV series, drama category. This was for his portrayal of attorney Billy McBride for "Goliath."
