'Winds of Winter' Release Date & News: Author George RR Martin Reveals Inspiration For Successful Book Series, 'Game of Thrones'

Fans of the popular book series "A Song of Ice and Fire" are not slowing down. They are still looking forward to hearing about the release date of the anticipated sixth book "Winds of Winter." Unfortunately, the celebrity author George RR Martin remains mum as to when his book will be available.

However, fans should not fret because the 66-year-old author is still committed to finishing the book. In fact, to compensate the possible delay of its release date after Martin revealed that he is no longer pressured to finish the book, the popular author has been hinting fans on what to expect from the book.

In an earlier report from Parent Herald, Martin revealed that Stannis Baratheon is alive. In the TV adaptation of the book, "Game of Thrones," episode director David Nutter already confirmed that Stannis is dead. "From the very beginning, and [through] the script process, that was the intent - he's dead," Nutter said who thinks showing Stannis' death is unnecessary.

Moreover, Martin also shared a chapter of "Winds of Winter" featuring Princess Arianne. "Game of Thrones" has not featured the said character yet but she is already featured in the books "A Clash of Kings" and "A Storm of Swords." Princess Arianne is the eldest daughter of Prince Dora Martell.

Aside from hinting the possible plot in the book, Martin also shared the inspiration behind his successful book series according to Australia Network. In an interview with D'Brickashaw Ferguson when Martin visited the Jets training camp he reveals the reason that motivates him to pen such rewarding work of arts.

"I love to read history, popular history, the stories of the wars and the betrayals and the kings and the murders and the poisonings—it's great material," he said. "And I love to read historical fiction, and the Wars of the Roses I think are an area that was particularly fascinating for me, ever since I saw the Shakespeare play Richard III, which takes place in that same era," New York Jets has learned.

This explains the violent and bloody scenes in the book and in "Game of Thrones." Martin acknowledges that history has to end and eventually one will know who wins the battle, who gets murdered and who murdered. He added that he took those ideas and use it in fantasy. He admitted that he mixed and matched the elements and among his additions are dragons and some other things.

Martin also expressed his inclination to a wide range of characters, he believes that one has a strong view of the world by mixing different things. However, he admits that he is much drawn to the underdogs like the bastard Jon Snow or the tomboy girl Arya.
