One of Hollywood's sultriest stars, Salma Hayek, knows the secret to a long marriage and effective parenting. She's been with François-Henri Pinault, a top French fashion businessman, for 10 years and together they are raising their only child, Valentina Paloma.
Hayek, 50, told People that she and her 55-year-old husband, whom she married in 2009, agree to put their partners first above everything else. This means doing less socializing with others and spending more time as a family, which might be quite hard to do considering the kind of work environment they are both immersed in.
Fortunately for the "Frida" star, she and her husband are on the same page about having little social life. "We don't have a very strong social life because we really like to spend time together," she told People. "So we do spend a lot of quality time together."
Hayek admits, however, being family-centered can be overwhelming at times especially when she has to try to balance her marriage and motherhood. "They take over everything," the actress said, alluding that there are times she feels like she has two children in her house, with her husband as the biggest kid.
In 2016, Hayek said she does get physically exhausted in looking after her family. "Especially if you are an older mom like me, but you have to make the effort," she said, according to UPI. Despite the challenges, Hayek considers her marriage her "biggest accomplishment" and she's always grateful that she has picked the right guy to spend the rest of her life with.
Meanwhile, the Oscar-nominated actress has been included in the list of 150 Most Fashionable Women for Harper Bazaar's February issue, WWD reports. She joins other big and influential names in fashion for the last three decades such as Beyonce, Madonna, Kendall Jenner and Cindy Crawford.
Hayek knows the honor will make her husband proud of her. "My husband is in the fashion business," the actress said. "I'm so happy I made it into the 100th."
