DC Favoring Caped Crusader Over Man of Steel, Here's Why ['Batman V Superman' Trailer News & Release Date]

In the upcoming superhero flick "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice," the battle will not be that easy as the conflict revolves around the two titular and popular superheroes in the DC universe. However, it seems that Warner Bros. has already chosen which superhero to side.

According to Heroic Hollywood, there were rumors that Warner executives are requesting for more Batman and less of Superman in the "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" movie. The report suggests that Ben Affleck's Batman was so impressive that he blew Henry Cavill's Superman right off the screen.

Batman is one of the most popular superheroes, credits to Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy, so it will not be a surprise if WB and DC wanted to capitalize it. Moreover, despite the success of Zack Snyder's 2013 "Man of Steel," it resulted in a great division among fans and critics.

Warner has difficulty figuring out the precise character they want for Superman, unlike Batman, whom they already know what they are going for and what they want. In fact, they have a hard time fitting Superman into a dark, gritty mold for the film without leaving his identity, CinemaBlend reports

Moreover, it is quite noticeable that the caped crusader is the new crown jewel of the DC Universe. He has a hit videogame series in "Arkham" and a spinoff LEGO movie in the works. He will also be featured in the upcoming film "Suicide Squad" where he was seen clinging to the roof of Joker's car as it zips around.

Batman will also be playing an integral part in the "Justice League" movies. There are also talks about multiple Batman solo films, including one which will be directed by Affleck himself.

Aside from the numerous appearances set for the Dark Knight, award-winning director and screenplay writer Chris Terrio came in to overhaul the "Batman vs Superman" script originally penned by "Man of Steel" scribe David S. Goyer. Terrio reportedly did a heavy rewrite from Goyer's work.

Terrio will also be penning the scripts for "Justice League Part One" set to be released in 2017 and "Justice League, Part Two" which will premiere in 2019. Terrio and Affleck had an impressive team up in their previous works, especially "Argo." With Terrio on board, it's more clear that the DC Extended Universe will be giving more attention to the Dark Knight.

Cavill just starred in Warner's recent movie "The Man From U.N.C.L.E," and although they are still fast tracking Superman, it's clear that Batman coupled with Affleck has become the mainstay of the DCEU.

"Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" will hit the big screens on March 25, 2016.
