British actor Dan Stevens has three young children who are unimpressed he's famous. The man currently lording it over in this weekend's box office via "Beauty and the Beast" with co-star Emma Watson said his kids couldn't care less but he's thankful he's got a supportive wife who understands his work.
Stevens, 34, has been married to South African jazz singer Susie Harriet, 41, since 2009. They have three children: 7-year-old daughter Willow, 4-year-old son Aubrey and youngest daughter Eden, who is only 10-months old.
Stevens said his children are too young to get why people are excited to see their father in person, especially during "Beauty and the Beast" press events and premieres. "They're pretty level-headed about it so far," Stevens told People.
"My son was with a friend the other day and Beast and Belle were on the cover of a magazine and his friend was getting very excited, there we were, and my son just went, 'Yeah that's just my dad in a suit,'" the actor said. "He's not that fazed."
Stevens, however, used some of his costumes on the kids at home, such as the Beast's fangs. He said they freaked out at first but ended up liking this eventually. "They would request that I would put them in and freak their friends out," he said.
Despite the fame, Stevens' main focus is on his family. In fact, the reason he quit "Downton Abbey" is because of his daughter Willow, so he could raise her together with his wife. He says shooting the award-winning series took long hours and at that time, his daughter was just born, so he only committed to his three-year contract and didn't renew, according to Telegraph.
Aside from "Beauty and the Beast," the actor is also getting praises for his new FX TV show "Legion." His career is rising and he's grateful his wife is very supportive of his fame.
"I'm lucky to be married to someone who entirely gets what I do," the actor said, as per Bustle. "She is totally sympathetic to the actor's life," he added, saying his wife grew up having an actress for a mother.
