Alec Baldwin Regrets Calling His Daughter A Pig, Admits She's Hurt 'Permanently'

Alec Baldwin admitted his regrets for how he treated his daughter during an outburst that made headlines in 2007. The actor left a voicemail for his daughter Ireland, then 11-years-old, and called her a "rude and thoughtless pig."

The 59-year-old father said the media made a big deal of his angry words and it left his daughter, now 21, permanently hurt. He revealed people never failed to remind him, even to this day, of how he acted towards Ireland. He and his daughter, however, have long made up and have a better relationship with each other.

"There are people who admonish me or attack me and use that as a constant spearhead to do that," Baldwin said during a guest appearance on "Good Morning America" Monday, Page Six reported. "It's a scab that never heals because it's being picked at all the time by other people," he added. "My daughter, that's hurt her in a permanent way."

Ireland is Baldwin's first-born child with ex-wife Kim Basinger, with whom he had a nasty divorce and child custody battle. In a 2012 interview, Ireland said she understood the frustration in his father's controversial outburst. She echoed the same sentiment that the media made a big deal out of it, as per another Page Six report. Ireland even poked fun about being called a pig on her Instagram in 2015.

If I Were A Pig... I would be Rude and Thoughtless of course!

Baldwin was on "Good Morning America" to promote his memoir, "Nevertheless." The actor also admitted he's had complicated relationships and got candid about his past substance abuse problems with drugs and alcohol.

Baldwin said he turned sober at age 27 after hitting rock bottom, as per AOL. He described his years of substance abuse as a tough time. "It was really a lot of pain in there," he said.

Baldwin is now married to Hilaria Thomas. They have three other children: Carmen, 4, Rafael, 2, and Leonardo, whom the family welcomed in September last year.
