A teenager from Arizona asked Emma Stone to be his date to his prom. Jacob Staudenmaier did an elaborate video based on Stone's movie "La La Land" to ask her out and she responded.
Staudenmaier told "Good Morning America" last Friday that the actress wrote him a letter. Unfortunately, she turned him down, as per Fox News.
Stone thanked the teenager for his gesture. "I can't tell you what an honor that was and how much I smiled through that entire beautifully orchestrated video," the Oscar-winning actress said.
Stone, however, is off to London for another movie. Thus, she won't be able to join him to his prom.
"I hope you have the best time at prom, and I'm grateful you thought of me," Stone said. She also complimented the teenager for looking a bit like her "La La Land" co-star Ryan Gosling.
Staudenmaier revealed he loved the film so much and as a fan of the actress, it inspired him to ask her out even if he knows it might be impossible to get a positive reply. The 17-year-old rewrote the lyrics from the movie's songs and also did the choreography and direction for the elaborate video. His friends helped with the video editing and it came together perfectly
"It started with the kind of crazy idea of saying, 'Yeah, maybe I'll go with Emma Stone to the prom,'" Staudenmaier said, as per USA Today. "I decided if I was going to do this, I really needed to do it big."
The prom will happen on April 29 but now that he won't be attending with the actress, Staudenmaier said he's got a backup plan. He has another girl in mind to ask as his date and knows he will still enjoy the prom with his friends. Watch Staudenmaier's prom-posal to "La La Land" Oscar best actress Emma Stone below.
