Serena Williams is sad that she did not see her daughter's first steps, as she has to return to the court, but fans rallied around the new mom and sent her messages of comfort.
First Walk
The professional tennis player took to social media to share that she missed out on one of her child's precious moments. Williams tweeted on July 7 and said that she was out training for Wimbledon and did not see baby Alexis Olympia walk for the first time. The professional tennis player admitted that she cried.
Williams' reaction to not seeing her 10-month-old daughter's first steps is understandable and very much relatable to other parents. They shared their messages of love and support to try to cheer her up. Fans reminded Williams that she did not have to feel guilty or ashamed that she did not see her daughter walk and that there will be plenty more precious moments to share with her in the future.
Messages Of Support
"It doesn't count until mommy sees it. Nothing counts until mommy sees it," one fan wrote.
"She missed you winning 23 grand slam titles but will still know you're the best tennis player of all time. You'll have thousands of magic moments with her don't worry!" another fan commented.
Another mom sympathized with Williams, as she too missed a lot of her child's many firsts because of work. She shared her message of support and told the new mom that her daughter will see her on the court and will be proud of her. Williams won against Kristina Mladenovic of France on July 6, the day before she missed out on her daughter's first steps.
"I missed a bunch of firsts while I was at work. I hear ya, mama. It's not easy. But our girls see us out there grinding + living our dreams and that's got to mean something," the mom shared.
Williams has yet to respond to all the messages of love and support. She is reportedly very busy training for upcoming eighth title at the prestigious tennis tournament.
The 36-year-old tennis player and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, welcomed daughter Alexis via cesarean section on Sept. 1, 2017. Williams has since been sharing photos of the adorable baby on social media. She has also opened up about motherhood in previous interviews. She revealed that she stopped breastfeeding Alexis after six months.
