Now that everyone is at home practicing self- isolation, it is also the best time to clean the house. And since there is no schooling, kids can help out with the cleaning too. But how can you make cleaning fun and entice even the kids to enjoy doing house chores?
Below are 11 delightful ways to make house cleaning easy and fun.
Hidden Treasure
Hide treats and pennies around the house and ask them to sweep the floor or dust the cabinet. Your kids will find the reward after they are done sweeping or dusting.
Chore list
Create a chore list then let your kids place a mark for every chore that they did. At the end of each week, the one who did the most number of chores gets an award.
Reuse Old Socks
Use old socks and let your kids decorate them. Let your kids use it by inserting it into your kids' hands and use it to remove dust from houseplants and furniture.
Scavenger Hunt
Let your kids collect stuff and place them in the right places. The kid that collects the most and places them in their right places gets a prize.
Inspector D. Clutter
Every week, there will be assigned an inspector that checks for any scattered items in the house. Anything that he finds not in their rightful places will be placed in jail (you may use a laundry basket). And to claim the item, the person must do a chore, this also includes mom and dad!
Give Them Their Rightful Jobs
If your kids love doing a certain chore, make them do it most of the time, but teach them the right way to do it. But during weekends, assign that chore to somebody else, and let them do another chore so that at the end of the day, all your kids would get to learn to do different chores properly.
Play Your Tune
Play your favorite music while cleaning. This way, they get to enjoy and at the same time, the house gets cleaned.
Color Coding
Choose a color and let your kids find things with the color that you announced. Then follow up with another color until everything is set in the right places.
Bond As You Clean
When cleaning, you may bond with one child day after day. This way, not only the house gets cleaned, but you become closer to each of your children. This goes to your partner too!
Make It Into a Workout
Make your chores into a workout. You may wear a pedometer to see how many steps you did for each chore. Then do your best to outdo your previous record every time.
Reward Yourself
After all the cleaning, reward yourselves by either watching a family favorite movie, or buy a special dessert, or cook everybody's favorite dish each night. Whatever it is that makes you look forward to, give it to yourself at the end of each day. This will make everyone enjoy cleaning because they are looking forward to something after all the cleaning is done.
