Angelina Jolie on How to Parent During Lockdown

Angelina Jolie shares how to parent when you are locked down with your children.

As a contributing editor, the "Maleficent" actress shared with the Time's Parent Newsletter in a special edition that she was not so confident in her skills of parenting her six kids.

She said that because she did not have a stable youth, so she thought that she could never become somebody else's mom. She clearly remembers the time when she decided to become one, and she did not have a hard time loving someone more than her life; neither did she have a hard time dedicating herself to someone.

What makes it hard for Jolie is knowing that from that day on, she had to make sure that everything was okay. She said that she had to be patient because she had to manage food, schooling, medical, and anything that would come.

The UN special envoy also said that she had to stop constant daydreaming and had to be ready for any breaks when she had to attend to something. She added that it was a new skill to acquire.

Angelina Jolie on Homeschooling

The 44-year-old actress is working from home while homeschooling her kids. She is empathizing with all parents who are staying home amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Now, after experiencing it herself, she realized that it is impossible to do everything right, to answer all the kids' needs, and to stay calm and positive all at the same time.

Angelina Jolie said that it is a lovely thing when your kids do not expect you to be perfect. They want you to be honest and appreciate you for doing your best.

"The Eternals" actress added that the more room that your children have to be strong because of your [the parent] weakness, the more your children would become strong in those areas. She also said that at the end of the day, it is a team that you are building, and in a way, your children are raising you too, so you grow together.

Angelina Jolie on Humanitarian Causes

"The One And Only Ivan" star has been active with many charities, especially now that there is a global health crisis. She especially participates in helping children who are not susceptible to the virus but are suffering due to the after-effects of the pandemic.

Jolie wrote essays for time and donated cash for food. She wrote that separating a victim from his family and friends due to social distancing has significantly caused trauma and suffering, especially to vulnerable children. She urges families and friends to give the vulnerable ones a call, especially.

She also said that it would take the whole country's effort to give the care and protection that the children deserve, as preceded by the saying, "it takes a village to raise a child."

Angelina Jolie donated $1 million to No Kid Hungry in March. She also donated to the UN Refugee Agency to help send support to the schools she is funding. The actress is also working with UNESCO in establishing a Global Education Coalition.
