The 2010 Mystery Case of a Missing Seven-Year-Old Child

After being last seen in a Portland-area elementary school in 2010, seven-year-old Kyron Horman has gone missing.

Elaine Aradillas, a writer from People, covers the story of Horman after disappearing from his school. Nearly ten years ago, Horman was last photographed in front of his science fair project as he focused on the red tree fog.

The Investigation Discovery Network focuses on the second-grader's case because it is still a mystery and even hits the headlines. A documentary special entitled "Little Boy Lost" was aired.

Kyron attended a school fair

Before the school started, Terri Horman brought her stepson Kyron to a science fair on June 4, 2010. With her digital camera, she took photos of the child and toured Kyron's classmates' projects before saying goodbye.

Terry and Kyron's father, Kaine Horman, waited for the child at his usual bus stop after school, but they did not see him on the bus, and the school reported Kyron's absence, which triggered fear and panic to the community.

Kyron's family asked the public for help

Exactly one week after Kyron disappeared from school, his family addressed the public for the first time asking their help to bring Kyron home. Tony Young, the missing boy's stepfather, said at that moment that they miss him and love him, so they want him back home right now, while Kyron's mom, Desiree Young, sobbed silently.

Young said they are doing everything they can to work with law enforcement, with the search and rescue crews to get Kyron back as soon as possible. He also said that the family is not complete without the missing child.

The Officials did not suspect Terri Horman

During an exclusive interview in 2016, Terri told People that she saw Kyron walking down to his room, and her vision of him is the back of his head. She said that that was the last thought of him because that was what she sees when she sits and thinks about Kyron.

The focus of the investigation quickly moved to Terri Horman. After Kyron's disappearance, the officials for the Multnomah County Sheriff's Department did not suspect Terri or a person of interest but said that it is an "ongoing investigation." Terri remarried and now lives in an undisclosed location.

At that time, 60 trained searchers and additional volunteers did a massive search due to Kyron's disappearance. Along with the FBI, they brought in another 65 detectives from agencies throughout the region.

During a press conference in 2010, an emotional sheriff Capt. Jason Gates addressed Kyron, saying that they are going to bring him home. He also said that nothing is more important to his family and friends than him.

"Tonight's special" targets the multiple twists and turns related to the case that has tormented everyone. Desiree Young, Kyron's mother, continues to plead for the public to help her find her son, and she is also asking Terri to reveal what she knows about the incident.

Young says in tonight's episode that in her mind, Terri was capable of terrible things.
