Couple Got Angry When Teen Sesame Place Employee Advised Them to Wear Face Masks

A teenage Sesame Place employee asked an adult couple to wear face masks, and it angered them. He received a punch from both, and now, he needs surgery for his injured jaw and broken teeth.

A reminder to wear face masks

Lt. Steve Forman told NBC News that it is a shame that a 17-year-old is working hard and doing the right thing yet he gets assaulted. He explained that the teen was only reminding people about the mask policy and the governor's orders. Tom Wolf, Pennsylvania Governor, has mandated people to wear face masks to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus.

The Sesame Park asks all patrons aged two and up to wear face coverings, except when they are eating. It also noted that people do not have to cover their faces in the park's water area.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the teenage employee had an encounter with the man and woman in their 20s to 30s earlier that day. He informed the couple to wear face masks upon entering the park. At around five in the evening, the teen was assigned to Captain Cookie's High C's Adventure where he saw the couple again. He explained that they needed to use face masks to protect against the deadly virus.

Footage captured the wrongdoings

Foreman said that during the incident, both the male and female struck the teenage staff member in the face, causing him to fall over. CCTV footage revealed that the couple was with a group of people both adult and young. After reviewing their reservations and transactions, the police found that those people were from New York City.

They brought the teen to a local hospital in an ambulance. Doctors will have the teen undergo jaw surgery and repair his broken teeth. Foreman said that they expect a full recovery and believes that the teen will experience an uncomfortable recovery.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has required people two years old and above to wear face masks when out in public. It does not only protect you from getting the virus, but it also helps prevent the further spread from one person to another.

One should still wear face coverings even if there are no symptoms. Study proves that people who do not show symptoms could still transmit the virus. So make sure to not forget to follow the guidelines recommended by the CDC.
