A mom from Maryland, Janael Palmer, bought a safety gate to keep her one-year-old baby away from the kitchen. However, her plan ultimately failed as her one-year-old baby found a way to get around the blockage.
Palmer was able to film her daughter's ingenious way of still coming into the kitchen. It quickly became a viral video with more than 800,000 views on Facebook. A Twitter user also shared the video, and it now has more than 4.5 million views.
The safety gate
In the Facebook post, Palmer said that she bought the safety gate to keep her baby out of the kitchen.
The one-year-old baby has a history of taking snacks and throwing vegetables around. That is why Palmer wanted the little toddler away from the kitchen as possible.
The viral video
However, no matter how much the Maryland mom wanted to keep things in order in the kitchen, her little toddler is way smarter than her.
In the video that Palmer uploaded, the one-year-old baby lifted the gate so that he can enter the kitchen.
The little toddler continued his way to the kitchen and straight to the snack drawer. He nonchalantly took the snack, and once he reached the safety gate, she threw the snack over. After that, the toddler lifted the gate again and got out of the kitchen.
Before he ran away, he made sure he got the snack that he took from the drawer.
The Maryland mom said in the caption, "Well guess what the joke was on me."
Netizens' reactions
Both on Twitter and Facebook, netizens find the video hilarious.
They also think that the baby is very smart for knowing his way around.
Also, other netizens commended the baby for returning things to their original place; thus leaving no evidence behind.
