60-Year-Old Dad Who Cannot Get Hired Posts Video Doing Push-Ups

A 60-year-old dad who lost his job due to the coronavirus pandemic cannot get hired anywhere, so he decided to show everyone that he is still capable of working by sharing his video doing push-ups. The viral video doing push-ups quickly gained attention, which also led to more than 100 job offers.

According to the 60-year-old dad, Paul Marks, the viral video doing push-ups is his way of introducing himself to recruiters who are probably hesitant because of his age.

The 60-year-old dad's self-introduction

At the beginning of the now-viral video, Marks was just finishing a set of push-ups, then he started explaining why he was doing that.

According to Marks, that was part of his daily routine, along with a regular weekly run of around 30 kilometers.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the 60-year-old dad was laid off from his work. He was a former chief executive of a retail company.

The jobseeker explained in the video that the push-ups were not his way of showing off how fit he may or may not be. He emphasized, "It's my way of saying that not all 60-year-olds are grey-haired gardeners or sit around drinking tea or watching sport all day." However, he also clarified that he has nothing against those who choose to be such.

The call for recruiters

Marks said that he feels that the online recruitment led to him not getting selected. Especially now that the world is facing the challenges brought by the coronavirus pandemic. According to Marks, "I'm finding it impossible to speak to recruiters face-to-face. Even informally over a cup of coffee."

The viral video doing push-ups, Marks explains, is his call to action.

The 60-year-old dad's work experiences

In his almost 3-minute viral video doing push-ups that already has more than 700,000 views, the 60-year-old dad shared that he has more than 40 years of experience in the retail industry. Something which he believes is going to be beneficial to any company that would choose to hire him

He added that he has worked abroad and returned to the UK with hopes of getting hired.

In the latter portion of his video, Marks wanted to put off the expectations of recruiters about his asking salary. The former chief executive said that he is up for any level job in the retail industry. He said that all of these are not important to him right now, "I'm just passionate about retailing, and I want to get out to a field role again. I want to be engaging with customers, working with business partners, and above all in a team and leadership position again.

According to Metro News, Marks already received more than 100 job offers.
