Your baby's face is formed

If you had a baby camera at 24 weeks pregnant, you'd almost be able to tell what and who your baby will look like by now. Although still tiny, your baby's face is almost fully formed, with eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair. During this time, your baby's hair is white, since there is no pigment yet.

Your baby's hearing

At 24 weeks pregnant, your baby's development includes hearing. Meaning, all kinds of sounds can be heard by your baby in your womb. You and your partner's voice can also be recognizable to your baby, as well as very loud sounds such as honking horns, barking dogs, or a wailing fire truck or ambulance.

Eyelids

One of your baby's development during this time is their eyelids. At 24 weeks, their eyelids have separated, and are beginning to take their final shape.

Lungs

The branches of your baby's lungs are forming, as well as the cells that make breathing possible. While a small amount of these cells are present, the lungs are still immature. That's why babies born during this time have a hard time breathing.

Belly button changes

Aside from your baby's development, mom symptoms are also making their presence known. Almost every mother's pregnant belly button pops at some point, as their swelling uterus pushes on everything in its path. But don't worry, things should return to normal after your delivery, although some other parts of your body might look a bit stretched.

Soothing red, itchy palms

In addition to mom symptoms is this red, itchy palms that you'll experience at 24 weeks pregnant. Although this is a normal symptom, there's a chance that it could be a sign of complication during your pregnancy. But, you can also blame those pesky hormones, along with other strange mom symptoms you'll experience this month such as metallic taste in your mouth, skin tags appearing out of nowhere, bigger feet, increased saliva, and vision changes.

Weight gain

At 24 weeks pregnant, you may have put in about 15 pounds, although every pregnancy and everyone's body is different. The amount that your provider recommends for weight gain will also depend on your pre-pregnancy weight.

Lower abdominal achiness

As your uterus expands, the tissues that support it also stretch, causing you pain. Occasional lower abdominal pain is normal, but if the discomfort is accompanied by fever, chills, or bleeding, immediately consult your doctor or practitioner.

Your baby is making big steps in development. Aside from growing and gaining weight, your baby's body systems are also maturing, preparing for birth. During this time, take better care of yourself as you wait for your baby's delivery.
