California mom Lisa Garcia is once again reminded of how hard the past few weeks have been for her.
Based on the reports, the California mom's daughter was shot to death before being found in the said brushy field. But even up to this point in time, the motive behind the killing of the young mother of a two years old girl is still unclear.
Dealing with her daughter's death
The California mom said that it was devastating for her. She added that she feels like her sadness only gets a little bit worse each time as time goes by.
The makeshift memorial where the California mom was seen standing contains many different kinds of flowers in the shades of yellow, purple, white, and other souvenirs. It rests at Chula Vista's Otay Valley National Park. The site is where the body of Garcia's beloved daughter, Christina Garcia, 23 years old, was spotted by a passerby last August.
The case
Last month, the police arrested a suspect. It was the 28 years old Vanessa Gastellu, said to be a longtime friend of the victim, based on the California mom's statement.
The investigation is still ongoing, although the San Diego County District Attorney's office did not move forward with Gastellu's homicide charges.
Garcia, the California mom, said that they are still trying to understand the situation. She said that it is the little healing they do when they do not know what happened because law officers refuse to tell them everything so as not to jeopardize the investigation. But despite this, Garcia is taking action.

Raising awareness
The California mom wants to raise awareness about the state of what she calls a "crime-ridden" South Bay park. The said park is a multi-jurisdictional park run in conjunction with San Diego County and the cities of San Diego and Chula Vista.
Garcia said that a law enforcement personnel that she spoke to said that South Bay park is a perfect place for murder because it is dark and isolated.
Because of this, Garcia drafted a petition calling the local officials' attention to take action on how to make the South Bay park safer.
In the petition, Garcia said that "for decades, (South Bay Park) has been known for murder, homelessness junk yard, and crime. 5 murders is just too many for us to ignore." As of writing, there are 438 supporters of the said petition. Some people are even commenting, saying that they also have family members murdered in the said park. They said that they could reduce the crimes happening in South Bay Park by this petition and make it clean and secure for everyone.
Garcia said that she is not asking too much, nor is she asking for those local officials' development plan ever since 1990. She said that what she only wants them to do is to throw up some lights around the park, clean the weeds, and mow the lawn. The California mom only wants the bare minimum to make the South Bay park look safe and clean.
