Utah mom abandons her newborn baby.
The baby was left at the doorstep at 161 E. Beryl Ave. The baby, who was approximately 4 to 5 months old during that time, was in a car seat when abandoned by the Utah mom.
According to the neighbors' accounts, they have been hearing a baby cry in a nearby unit. However, when they heard the cries last Saturday, they did not think that it was from the newborn baby at the doorsteps.
Neighbors said that the baby has been crying for almost thirty minutes. That is why they thought of bringing the baby inside their home. The weather was cold during that day, and the baby seemed to be freezing at the doorsteps.
The neighbors immediately called for the assistance of the police.
The investigation
A team of police officers was immediately dispatched to the area. After checking the situation, authorities attempted to contact the parents of the baby at the apartment. They tried several times but to no avail.
An officer from the Division of Child and Family Services found the baby's mother's information inside a bag close to the baby.
Also, a police investigation disclosed that the Utah mom came and abandoned her newborn baby at the father's house's doorsteps while it was cold out.
The newborn baby's condition
While the police were trying to contact the parents, the baby started to show signs of fever. He was immediately brought to the Primary Children's Hospital for treatment.
The Utah mom's explanation
When the police got a hold of the Utah mom, Blymiller explained that she had an arrangement with her child's father that he would be babysitting. However, when the authorities asked for evidence, the mom changed her story. She then said that the arrangements were made over the phone.
According to the affidavit, Blymiller also said that she showed up with her baby, but they ended up arguing. The Utah mom added that she "eventually was told that he wouldn't open the door and take the baby until she was gone."
This story does not align with the neighbors' accounts because there were no heard arguments in the area during that day.
