The father's dream
Winston had wanted to become a police officer for so long, and he had hoped that it would become a family affair. He explained to the outlet that he had been thinking of getting into law enforcement. He said that he had been encouraging his two sons to be a member of law enforcement. He and his son, Christian, decided to join the academy. Soon, the duo found themselves pushing one another to become better in the field.
Healthy family competition
According to KTVT, Christian said that he and his dad are competitive. He believes that the academy was good for both of them because it had made their bond stronger. Winston also noted that he even got the better of his son a few times.
Even though the father and son both graduated simultaneously, the duo has different plans afterward. The outlet reported that while Winston considers offers, his son officially sworn to Flower Mound Police Department on Thursday.
A 61-year-old also completes the course
Apart from the dad and son duo, others were attention-grabbing after finishing Tarrant County College's Law Enforcement Academy.
According to KTVT, William Shaw, a 61-year-old student, also completed the course. Shaw explained to the outlet how he managed to receive the accomplishment he did. He said that if one could push himself and to persevere, he would get to the place where he wants to be no matter what age. He had just sworn into the Grapevine Police Department.
Later, the Grapevine Police Department posted a message on their Twitter account saying its congratulations to the 61-year-old. The tweet includes two photos where Shaw was being sworn in with his badge.
Alongside the photos, the academy tweeted that it welcomes their newest Officer William Shaw. It noted that just that morning, Shaw was sworn right before graduating from the police academy.
