A Canadian Public Library adds toy rental to their services. Aside from books, a lot of toys are also now available to a Canadian Public Library. Toy rental that kids of all ages can use to have fun while also learning from it in the corners of their homes during these trying times.

The long-time dream

Christine Batke, the children and adult program coordinator said that the plan for toy rental in the Canadian Public Library was a long-time dream.

Based on Batke, her partner had always spoken very fondly about the Weyborn toy library.

So when both of them grew up, her partner would always check out toys there, where it was one of his fondest memories in the said library.

When her partner found out that they did not have a toy rental in their Canadian Public Library, she said that her partner was a bit disappointed in her.

Because of the said incident, it had always been one of her main goals in mind. She wanted to have a toy rental in their Canadian Public Library that everyone can enjoy and that is fully running; because for her as well as her partner, it is something that will help build a fond memory that could last a lifetime.

The toy rentals service

The toy rental in the Canadian Public Library took a long time to finish and to run. But recently, they finally announced the opening of their project.

Batke said that it took them two long years, not to mention the long time that took her to get the funding for it.

A union was the reason behind the funding of the toy rental in the Canadian Public Library last summer. After this, Batke started working for various toy collections. Then, she bought the toys from Your Toy Store and More as well as from the local craftsman Garnet Hall.

Putting up the service

To Batke, it was really important for her to ensure that all the stores that they bought the toys from were local shops, since that is where the money comes from in the first place.

Aside from buying and collecting toys for the toy rental in the Canadian Public Library, it also took some time to get the proper shelves to build.

The library hired trusted services to create exactly what Batke wanted the shelves to look like — shelves that have windows, so the toys can easily be seen.

Aside from hiring someone to build the shelves, they also hired the local locksmith to put in little locks for it.

For Batke, it is the right time to have the toy rental in their Canadian Public Library before Christmas, especially when a lot of people are trying not to spend more money on presents and other things. This project will also help children with their education while they are having fun.

Right now, toys can be checked out just like books and can be used for up to three weeks. And in the meantime, they do not have an official limit on how many toys each child can rent out. But since the collection is not very big yet, they are asking the public to stick to one toy at a time so others can also benefit from the service. The closet with toys is inside the library on the left side by the entrance.
