'Avatar 2' Cast & Plot: James Cameron Teases Pandora's Ocean Ecosystem Focus; Everything We Know So Far

Who would ever forget the successful and epic science fiction directed, written, produced and co-edited by James Cameron that featured the blue-skinned, sapient humanoid who are natives to Pandora? For those who wish to see the Na'vi again, do not worry, Cameron and his team are already working on "Avatar 2" and "Avatar 3."

The first Avatar revolves on Hometree, a giant tree where the clan usually holds their gatherings. The said tree is very important to Pandora as destroying it could damage Pandora's biological neural network.

The sequel will focus on another area of Pandora. In an interview with Comingsoon.net, Cameron shared a big revelation about the film. "We're doing 'Avatar' films now, so we're making up an ocean ecosystem for Pandora," said Cameron.

Cameron expressed his concern about conserving Earth's oceans when he thinks about the sequel, expressing that all the resources we have today, including the beautiful corals we grow up, won't exist 50 years from now if people will not change their approach to the environment.

However, Cameron revealed that the deep ocean exploration he has done and the ocean stuff they did for "Avatar 2" has no direct connection. Yet, he expressed his inclination in making documentaries and continuing on exploring stuffs.

He stressed that they do not have to explore the coral reefs at this time because those stuffs are well-understood. It's also known that they are dying if people don't change their reckless ways. However, Cameron teases that the challenger deep has a direct connection to "Avatar 2."

"It's all the scuba diving I did before I even started the deep ocean stuff that has more of a direct connection to Avatar 2 & 3, which by the way won't take place completely in or under the water," he added. "That's just part of the environment of Pandora that we're going to see."

While everything seems to be right on track, Cameron admitted that making three "Avatar" films isn't easy. In fact, he has to delay "Avatar 2's" release date. According to Cameron, getting the story to work as a saga across three films than making a standalone film is more complicated.

For those who fear that the third and fourth film will also be pushed back, Cameron said that such case is unlikely to happen because they are using an improved software and graphic tools to speed up the process, CrossMap reports.

On the other hand, actress Zoe Saldana who gave voice to Neytiri revealed that she already made a trip to New Zealand where the production is set to take place and "it was wonderful," MTV reports.

"Avatar 2" will premiere on Dec. 25, 2017.
