In their very candid interview with Oprah Winfrey that draws almost 17.8 million viewers the highest audience so far for the 2020 and 2021 season, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed some sensitive information about their personal lives as a husband, wife, and parents and as well as their hardships as working members of the royal family.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's interview talked about their time when living at Kensington Palace and the rift inside the family that has made headlines worldwide. Meghan and Prince Harry declared their decision to leave the royal family in January 2020.

Although most people worldwide can't imagine the Duke and Duchess of Sussex leaving the monarchy, it turns out that the couple was actually struggling with several family and mental health issues while inside the monarchy.

Meghan and Harry Give Insight Into Their Family

1. Megan and Harry were already married before their televised wedding

Before Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, she admitted to Oprah that she didn't know anything about the royal family. She even added that she never imagined being in the royal family but somehow thought of it just like any other ordinary person has.

Markle was also the one who revealed that the couple had secretly married before their wedding in 2018 was televised. The secret wedding took place three days before the royal wedding. The couple said that they did it to have an intimate moment on their wedding day. And it was only joined by the couple and the Archbishop of Canterbury whom they called in wanting to have their union just between them.

2. Meghan's mental health suffered during pregnancy

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's interview also revealed that while pregnant, the Duchess of Sussex had suicidal thoughts. She recalls her memory as very clear and the frightening thoughts she had.

Realizing these thoughts were not good, Meghan asked a senior royal to help her with her situation, but instead, the royal told her that she couldn't receive professional help as it would be bad for the monarchy's image.

3. Baby Archie's skin color is a non-topic

Meghan also said during the interview that before giving birth to their firstborn Archie, she heard conversations and concerns from the royal family about what skin color Archie would have.

Sometimes many aspiring parents have heard their relatives making understatements entirely, just like what happened to the royal couple questioning their child's appearance is never acceptable. Those comments and questions coming from the royal family were not received well by Meghan or Harry.

4. Prince Harry had to set boundaries

Just like in any other family situation, it is often the in-laws, or other family members cross the line to the point that the couple has no choice but to create firm guidelines on how their life will proceed. Prince Harry admitted going to therapy after meeting his wife. The prince then concluded that the healthiest way to solve these problems was to set boundaries and eventually move away from the palace.

5. The Expecting Couple

Even though the couple has chosen to leave the royal family, they still live their life in full as they happily shared with Oprah that they are now expecting a baby girl. Prince Harry opened up about how amazing it feels having a boy and a girl and says there is nothing more he could ask for aside from his two children.
