In what experts claim is the first instance of the rare anomaly, a baby boy was born having three penises.

After finding that their infant had a swollen scrotum with "skin projections," the parents of the three-month-old Iraqi baby pursued medical help.

On research on the treble-membered baby published in the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports, Dr. Shakir Saleem Jabali noted, "To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case with three penises or triphillia."

According to doctors in a report published in the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports, the "skin projections" were discovered to be two separate penises after an inspection, according to doctors.

The baby, a Kurd from Duhok, has been admitted to the hospital by his parents when he was three months old because of scrotal swelling. Yet, when he came, doctors noticed how he had extra penises.

The second penis was around 2cm long and connected to the first penis at the base. The third penis was approximately 1cm long and located just below the scrotum.

According to the study's authors, the Hydra-like condition was especially puzzling because the baby had not been susceptible to drugs while in the womb and had no family background of genetic conditions.

Surgery to remove the excess penises through operation had been advised after diagnosing Triphallia (three penises). Thankfully, the procedure went well, and the previously triphallic child was declared problem-free a year after a follow-up visit, according to the case study.

World's first case of Triphallia

According to physicians, no reports of Triphallia had ever been identified before the boy's condition was discovered.

Despite having the world's only documented case of triphallia, this current case of having extras is not the only reported case out there. According to the new research, diphallia, or having two penises, had first been documented in 1609 and is thought to impact one in every 5 million to 6 million baby boys, with about 100 cases "reported in the literature."

In addition, after it has been announced that he had two 10-inch-long working penises, one anonymous person nicknamed "Double Dick Dude" went viral in 2015. And, apart from this new penile patient, some of these akimbo organs are said to be able to ejaculate and urinate, implying that two heads are better than one.

In a report, Doctors Ayad Ahmad Mohammed and Shakir Saleem Jabali stated, "Patients with supernumerary penises have unique presentations, and no cases are identical." He also added: "Triphallia (three penises) is an unreported condition in a human until now."

According to World Health Organization research, doctors are yet to identify the origin of the phallic disfigurement. Still, it has been related to other congenital abnormalities and being born with two scrotums or anuses.
