Hollywood superstar Jennifer Lopez and late-night talk show host Jimmy Fallon have collaborated on a special project. The long-time friends are launching a new children's book, "Con Pollo: A Bilingual Playtime Adventure," set to hit store shelves on Oct. 11, 2022.
In a statement to People, Lopez said that she's excited about the book's release because it's not just her first attempt at writing a children's book but also because she has worked on the project with a friend.
On the other hand, Fallon revealed that he and Lopez have wanted to do a worthwhile collaboration for some time, and because both of them are parents, the two decided that "a children's book would be the perfect fit."
The "Marry Me" star also said that her high school teachers would likely be proud that she wrote the Spanish version of "Con Pollo: A Bilingual Playtime Adventure" for kids to learn the language. Though she is born in the Bronx in New York, Lopez's roots are from Puerto Rico, a Spanish-speaking U.S. territory.
What is the Bilingual Children's Book About?
"Con Pollo: A Bilingual Playtime Adventure" centers on Pollo, a chicken who loves to play more than anything in the world. Publisher director Jean Feiwel said that Lopez and Fallon's book is also about friendship. Andrea Campos did the book's illustration, which Macmillan Children's Publishing Group will distribute.
This is not the first time Fallon has written a children's book. The proud dad of two has come up with four board and picture books, which have all landed on the list of New York Times bestsellers. On the other hand, Lopez has published her memoir, "True Love," in 2014 but this project with Fallon is her first in the children's category.
Parenting Realizations from Lopez and Fallon
Meanwhile, Lopez told "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that her teenage kids, Max and Emme, don't think she's a cool person, unlike her fans. The doting mother also said that her kids are at a phase where they don't want public displays of affection from her anymore.
Lopez said in jest that it hurts her heart when her kids stop her from hugging or kissing them around other people. She also said that her teenage kids love and hate her star power in Hollywood, so she's very conscious of what she says in interviews because her children and their friends can read the stories about her.
Fallon's kids are still young, but they have changed his life forever. He has daughters, Winnie, 8, and Franny, 6, with his wife, Nancy Juvonen, and he admitted that they have made him more sensitive as a father.
The dad, however, said that his girls are very perceptive, and as an entertainer, they are the toughest to please. He shared that Winnie and Franny don't find his jokes funny at all though they love all of his children's books.
