Bella Hadid admitted that she had plastic surgery on her nose when she was 14 years old because she felt she was the ugly sister who wasn't as cool as her sibling, Gigi Hadid.

In an interview with Vogue, the supermodel said that she believed people who kept comparing her to Gigi, so she thought of enhancing her appearance with a nose job at such a young age.

However, Bella, who is now 25, has expressed regret over the decision to have the plastic surgery because she realized she could have "grown into it." She also said that she should have kept the "nose of her ancestors" because looks with "ethnic nose jobs" are currently in demand in her industry. Bella has strong Palestinian roots because of her father, Mohamed Hadid.

Blaming Her Mother, Yolanda Hadid

Following Bella's revelation, social media netizens blamed her mom, Yolanda Hadid, for allowing her to get a nose job at 14 years old. Some fans of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," where Yolanda is part of the cast, also said that it's the mother who constantly compares her daughter.

According to Insider, Yolanda refers to Bella as "the black swan" and Gigi as "the white swan." She said that Gigi, a top model like her younger sister, often gets the gigs for a model with an All-American girl look. One netizen said that Yolanda also often compares Gigi's Dutch genes to Bella's Palestinian genes on her TV show.

Bella's confession comes after Yolanda denied that her daughters had plastic surgery. Yolanda once opened up that she's finished with cosmetic procedures because the toxicity and conditioning to look perfect were affecting her self-perception.

When fans pointed out that her daughters had enhancements, Yolanda said that Bella and Gigi never had fillers, botox, or anything else done on themselves. Bella also addressed the plastic surgery rumors in 2019 and said that she couldn't imagine messing up her face.

What Plastic Surgery Experts Say

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, about 229,000 nose jobs on kids between 13 to 19 years old were done in 2017. Teenagers also account for four percent of all cosmetic procedures.

Bella's nose job is called a rhinoplasty, but the experts told Fox News that this procedure is not recommended for women under 15 years old and 16 years old in men. The nose won't complete development until 16 to 18 years old, and some people would still have a developing nose until early adulthood.

However, plastic surgeons Drs. Rod J. Rohrich and Min-Jeong Cho said that there are proper guidelines for conducting plastic surgeries on teenagers. In this day and age, rhinoplasty may be safely done on adolescent girls or boys because there are substantial studies about it today. Some girls also have the emotional maturity to handle the effects and risks of a nose job.
