LA mom Angela Flores has admitted to killing three of her seven kids on Mother's Day with the help of her 16-year-old son, authorities announced.
The 38-year-old was booked into the LA County jail on Sunday night on three counts of murder for allegedly killing two of her sons and a 12-year-old daughter. Flores' bail was set at $6 million. Flores' 16-year-old son was also arrested on one count of murder and was being held at the Sylmar Juvenile Hall, according to a report by CBS News.
Cops responded to an assault with a deadly weapon report at about 7:40 a.m. on Sunday, May 8, at the Flores home on Victory Boulevard. When they arrived at the scene, police officers found the three victims, 12-year-old Natalie Flores, 10-year-old Kevin Yanez, and eight-year-old Nathan Yanez, dead.
Flores confessed to killing her 3 kids with the help of her teen son
According to the LAPD, Flores confessed to killing her children with the assistance of her 16-year-old son. The cause of the kids' deaths was not immediately released. Flores' three other children were not harmed as they live with their father out of state.
According to Flores' neighbors, the mom of seven had been acting erratically on Saturday night. Flores was reportedly heard screaming, praying, and lighting candles at other homes on the street.
Priscila Canales told the Los Angeles Daily News that she heard someone screaming, "My family is abusing me." Canales said that Flores was saying all kinds of nonsense, but she couldn't make out what it was. Canales said that Flores was burning a candle in their neighbor's yard and having the Bible out.
The neighbor added that when Flores was removed on a stretcher, she kept popping up and jumping up as she repeatedly asked, "Where's my Bible? Where's my Bible?" Authorities have not yet revealed how Flores' children died or disclosed a possible motive for the gruesome crime.
Flores taken to hospital for mental health reasons before arrest
Blanca Hernandez lives next door to Flores and was the one who called 911 on Saturday night when Flores began acting erratically on her front lawn. She was taken to the hospital for mental health reasons, but Hernandez did not realize Flores was her neighbor.
Hernandez told KABC that Flores was screaming, "You know, I killed my kids." Hernandez said Flores was then taken to the hospital, adding that police did not know where she came from and did not do a welfare check until the next morning when her 16-year-old son called for help.
LA County District Attorney George Gascon issued a statement regarding the killings, saying, "The deaths of these three children are truly horrific and tragic. As a parent and a grandparent, I send my heartfelt condolences to the people who love them."
