Johnny Depp claimed victory over his defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard, following a jury verdict in favor of the actor. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" superstar stated that he wanted the truth revealed and pursued the lawsuit, despite the legal hurdles, for the sake of his children.

Depp thanked his supporters for believing in him amid his legal battle with his ex-wife. In a statement released via CNN at the conclusion of the six-week trial, Depp said that he owed the truth to his kids, Lily-Rose, 23, and Jack, 20.

The actor said that the lives of his kids and those closest to him were turned upside down because of the "very serious and criminal allegations" that Heard revealed to the media, which he had always insisted were fabrications. He also thanked the jury for giving his life back by believing his assertion that his ex-wife made false accusations, which was at the center of his defamation lawsuit.

The jury awarded Depp $10 million for compensatory damages and $5 million for punitive damages. Heard, on the other hand, was awarded $2 million for compensatory damages. However, the jury determined that she should not get any money for punitive damages.

Lily-Rose Depp Celebrated Birthday Two Days Before the Verdict

Two days before the jury announced their verdict, Lily-Rose marked her 23rd birthday on Instagram. The model and actress shared a photo of a bouquet and two snaps of herself with her pink "Birthday Princess" sash.

Lily-Rose didn't detail if she was celebrating her birthday with family members. However, the young star has been busy on the set of "The Idol," a new TV series with The Weeknd.

In an April interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lily-Rose said that she had not considered the possibility that she would work on the screen with her father again. But she's also not shutting down anything because she says she loves " working with great actors." Lily-Rose had one scene with her famous dad in the 2014 movie "Tusk."

The actor's children, with his ex-partner, Vanessa Paradis, have not taken the stand to defend their father against Heard, who detailed her alleged domestic violence experience in an op-ed piece in The Washington Post in 2018. However, both Depp and Heard commented about the children during the trial.

Depp believes that his messy divorce with Heard affected his children. On the other hand, Lily-Rose implied her support for him in a now-deleted social media post, which she labeled "loving father." Meanwhile, Jack is more private than his sister and has not made any comments about his father's trial.

What's Next for Johnny Depp?

The actor's agent said Heard's accusations had a "catastrophic" effect because Depp lost lucrative blockbuster projects in Hollywood. But Depp said he will no longer return to his most popular franchise, "Pirates of the Caribbean."

According to The Guardian, Depp will likely not have any luck working on mainstream movies in the next few years. Instead, the actor will probably make smaller and unusual films with reduced actor's fees. However, since he's received larger support on social media than Heard, he may get his career back on track sooner than his ex-wife's fate. He has signed on to star as King Louis XV in the French film "Jeanne du Barry."

Some say he might make music. During the jury deliberation, Depp made surprise appearances on stage with rocker Jeff Beck. The actor has a band, Hollywood Vampires, with Joe Perry and Alice Cooper.
