Parents are pulling a new TikTok prank that sees moms or dads filming their kids' reactions after asking them to "put on their shoes" and prepare to fight another parent and their kids.
The results of the fight prank have drawn different kinds of responses from the children. While some immediately obey their mother or father and show that they have their parents' backs, the other kids balk at the challenge or let their parents settle the fight themselves.
One mom filmed her little girl while she was having breakfast. The mom told her to put her shoes on because she would fight the parent, and her daughter would fight the kid. Without hesitation, the daughter gets up from the table and leaves her food, telling her mom she will fight with her.

Another parent tried to cover a laugh when she told her daughter to get ready to beat up the neighbor with her. The daughter did not notice her parent pranking her because she calmly closed her laptop and told her mom that she understood. She then showed off her karate chops in the video on TikTok.

Amuse and shock from the parents
Some parents said they were amused by their kids' reactions and loved that the children were ready to defend their mom or dad. One parent, however, said that she tried the fight prank on her son and was brushed off because the child was too scared.
A commenter replied on one of the pranks that most kids were ready for anything for their parents. However, some have expressed shock that the new TikTok prank reinforces fighting and violence in children.
"We should be teaching them how to use our words and communicate effectively," the commenter said, per New York Post.
Mom Narika Davis said parents should be alarmed about this trend, which has been growing in popularity based on the millions of views each video receives. Davis said that she does not find the prank funny because it encourages the wrong values.
Charlamagne Tha God, a co-host on "The Breakfast Club," said on his show that he's not a fan of the prank because it's traumatizing for the children. He thinks it's wrong for parents to participate in this new TikTok prank just for the viral hits and re-shares.
So far, TikTok has responded by placing warning signs before the clip. Some parents also add warning signs on the hashtag or description, advising viewers that they could be injured if they carry out the prank.
Circle back to your kids
Child psychologist Dr. Colby Butzon believes that the impact of the prank could have negative consequences, especially on younger kids. Speaking with Fox 13, the expert said that the parents are the children's first teachers when it comes to interacting with other people. They should set up expectations that underscore violence is not the answer, and people should use other coping skills to sort out their issues.
Butzon also advised parents who have done the fight prank to get back to their children on this issue and then talk about the nature of pranks. They must also reiterate to their kids that fighting someone will not solve the problem and that they do not need to protect their parents in such a violent manner.
