Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban plan to renew their wedding vows anytime soon after 16 years of marriage. The couple also plans to adopt a son.
The couple plans to renew their "I dos" at their local church in the presence of their long-time Hollywood friends, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, according to The International News. As per a close insider to the couple, they wanted an intimate but fairly sizeable party.
Nicole is also expecting her family and friends from Australia.
They have been planning their marriage renewal for some time, but the insider said it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple is trying to find a date in autumn.
Plans for adoption and hands-on parenthood
The country music legend, who shares two daughters with Nicole, Sunday Rose, and Faith Margaret, also wants to adopt a son soon.
Per Mirror, the couple wanted a boy, and they hope to work around their schedule to take care of the baby themselves without heavily relying on the nanny. Like other parents, they wanted to roll up their sleeves and spend sleepless nights with the baby. The couple explained that adopting a child and not opting for surrogacy would likely be less stressful. The couple also likes the idea of helping a child in need. Kidman is also a mom of two adopted children, Isabella Jane Cruise and Connor Cruise, with ex-husband Tom Cruise.
A timeless love story
The five-time Academy Awards nominee shared that she first met Urban at an event in LA. She admitted she had a "crush" on him after they crossed paths at the 2005 G'Day USA Gala, but he was not interested in her, so she thought. The country singer did not call her for months. Urban said it took him a while to call Kidman because he thought the actress was too good for him. He thought she was "way out of his league." He added that he did not believe that somebody like Nicole Kidman would be interested in him in a million years, Today reports.
Urban admitted meeting Kidman during a difficult time in his life, so when a friend passed her number, the "Wild Heart" singer froze, fearing that he would not know what to say.
However, when he called, he said they never stopped talking, adding that it was "effortless."
The couple tied the knot in Sydney in June 2006. Kidman said that six months into their relationship, she knew she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Urban.
In 2020, Kidman told Today that she married a "really good man." Urban described Kidman as an "amazing wife and mother."
