Angelina Jolie took to Instagram on Sunday to announce that her 17-year-old daughter will attend Spelman College this fall. The 47-year-old actress posted a photo of Zahara posing with some of her fellow students, some of whom were wearing Spelman College shirts as they celebrated the start of their college journey at a Historically Black College University (HBCU).

While the Jolie-Pitts are pretty private about their personal lives, Jolie would proudly post her children's accomplishments from time to time. She showed fans her trip to Cambodia with Shiloh Jolie-Pitt and her White House visit with Zahara, according to She Knows.

Spelman College

On her 13.3 million followers Instagram account, Jolie congratulated all new students starting this year, saying that it is such a special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl.

The college is a historically Black women's liberal arts college in Atlanta, Georgia. Its recognized alumni include Pulitzer Prize winner Alice Walker, TV personality Rolonda Watts, actress Cassi Davis, and politician Stacey Abrams. The actress also got involved with the celebrations for the new students as they danced to the "Electric Boogie" remix. As per Newsweek, Phylicia Fant, an American music executive, and Spelman College alumni shared footage of the Oscar-winning actress joining the celebrations.

Meanwhile, fans praise the Oscar-winning actress for choosing a "historically Black" university for her daughter's education.

In March, Spelman College received a $2.3 million federal grant to upgrade the university's technology systems as part of a historic collaboration between 20 participating HBCUs in the country.

Classes are expected to start on Wednesday, August 17.

A comment said she loves how Jolie is stepping up and doing all of the typical college parent activities. Another commenter praised the actress for always stepping up as a parent. She further commended Jolie's love and guidance towards all her children, noting that it is not easy to look after six children of different ages and nature, ensuring they follow their dreams and be strong individuals.

The Jolie-Pitt Children

Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt, one of the adopted children of Jolie and Brad Pitt, is the second in the family to go to college. Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt was adopted in Cambodia in 2002, and in 2019, he went to Yonsei University in South Korea for college, taking up biochemistry.

The couple also adopted Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt from Vietnam in 2007 when the boy was three years old. He finished high school in 2021.

The estranged Jolie-Pitt couple had three other children, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, born in 2006 in Namibia, and twins Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt, born in Nice, France, in 2008.

The Jolie-Pitt couple separated six years ago. Pitt was declared legally single three years ago. The estranged couple had a bitter custody battle for their children.

Daily Mail reports that Brad is now dating but not in a serious relationship.
