Ne-Yo and his wife, Crystal Renay, seem to be heading for splitsville after four years of marriage. Renay filed for divorce days after she accused her husband of infidelity with different women. She claimed that her husband recently fathered a child with another woman. The Grammy winner's wife called their marriage "irretrievably broken with no hope for reconciliation."
Per court documents, she said she has cared for their three kids since they separated on July 22, 2022. Renay is seeking primary physical custody of the kids and joint legal custody. The Daily Mail reported that Ne-Yo's wife also seeks child support and alimony.
Renay, 36, first met her estranged husband during casting for the music video for his song, "Non-Fiction."
Accused of cheating
In a post uploaded on Instagram, Renay accused Ne-Yo of being unfaithful to her throughout their eight-year relationship. She accused him of "eight years of lies and deception." She claimed he had cheated with women who sold their bodies to him unprotected. In a now-deleted post, the mom of three said she "wasted years and heartache" from their union.
She also wrote that asking her to stay and accept was insane.
A day later, Ne-Yo posted on Twitter that he was not interested in speaking publicly about the split for the sake of his children and family. He vowed that their family would work through their challenges behind closed doors, adding that personal matters were not meant to be addressed and dissected in public forums.
The singer asked for respect and his family's privacy at this time. The move for divorce filing came after the couple gave their marriage a second chance and tied the knot again in a Las Vegas wedding in April. The couple shared three children, Shaffer, 6, Roman, 4, and Isabella, 13 months, as per Page Six.
A woman scorned
The estranged wife admitted that she was heartbroken and disgusted. She said she would no longer lie to the public and pretend "this is something it isn't." She vowed to choose herself, her happiness, health, and respect, noting that she gained three children out of this relationship. Renay asked her fans to stop sending her cheating videos of her husband with other women because "what he does is no longer my concern."
In a statement that Renay captioned "God bless," she said she is choosing to stand tall with her head held high, adding that if someone does not love you the way you deserve, then "it's up to you to love yourself."
According to People, the estranged couple separated in February 2020 but was reconciled four months after. The couple renewed their wedding vows on April 22 in an elaborate ceremony in Las Vegas. They shared numerous photos and videos from the wedding.
