Almost two years after suffering pregnancy loss, the Cravings founder revealed that she did not know she had a life-saving abortion until Roe vs. Wade was overturned.
Chrissy Teigen, wife to John Legend and a mother to two adorable kids, Luna, 6, and Miles, 4, and currently pregnant with a third child, finally opened up and set the record straight about her heartbreaking pregnancy loss in 2020.
She shared at Propper Daley's "A Day of Unreasonable Conversation" summit last September 15 that when she was pregnant with Jack, their supposedly third child that didn't survive, she had to make a lot of difficult and heart wrenching decisions, especially when it became evident halfway through that the baby will not survive, and she will not survive without any medical intervention.
However, the miscarriage that she told the public about was not actually a miscarriage but a "life-saving abortion," She did not realize this until June of this year when the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade.
"Let's just call it what it was: It was an abortion. An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance. And to be honest, I never, ever put that together until, actually, a few months ago," Teigen expressed.
Not a miscarriage, but an abortion
The "Lip Sync Battle" co-host felt horrible referring to her failed pregnancy as a miscarriage to the world. She felt frustrated and "silly" that it had taken her over a year to understand that what she had was actually an abortion.
After the revelation, many "brutal" comments and negative reactions transpired from the public, but the cookbook author was already ready for these, ENews reported.
She took to Twitter and said that she knew something like this would happen and that they were not making her feel worse. She emphasized that she had already seen the worst of what they could do and if saying negative things about her and what she just shared would make them feel better, so be it.
Nine Years Together
Just three days ago, Teigen and Legend celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary, and getting pregnant again after the devastating loss was the best advance wedding anniversary gift they could ever have.
Last August 3, the model shared a picture of herself on Instagram showing a growing baby bump. She revealed that she had been undergoing in vitro fertilization treatments and was anxious to announce her pregnancy, fearing that she might lose the baby at any time.
The husband and wife took to Instagram to express their anniversary greeting and message to each other. The singer superstar called his wife his "Wonder Woman," who never ceases to amaze him. Teigen described her husband as her "absolute best friend," lover, and life partner, thanking him for raising babies with her, who are her "proudest gifts."
