A couple from Nebraska got a huge surprise when they found out they were expecting a baby. Compounding the shock for both of them was that the woman gave birth just two days later, according to People Magazine.

Omaha native Peyton Stover saw her doctor after experiencing symptoms, including fatigue. The 23-year-old assumed those were related to job stress as she is a first-year teacher and thought it was normal to be tired all the time.

But after noticing changes in Stover's body, such as swelling in her legs, her doctor told her that a baby was on the way. Stover recalled that they reran the test to make sure. The doctor said it was definitely positive, and they would do an ultrasound. She looked at the screen and told Stover that she was pregnant.

Stover had a preeclampsia scare

The shocking pregnancy news also came with some concern for the couple. Stover said her kidneys were not performing, and her liver was not working properly. Doctors said Stover was suffering from preeclampsia.

Stover's pregnancy condition, also known as toxemia, can cause serious complications. According to the Mayo Clinic, the condition is characterized by high blood pressure and signs of damage to another organ system in the body, most often the kidneys and liver.

Stover was immediately scheduled for an emergency C-section to protect her and the baby. Stover's boyfriend, Travis Koesters, who rushed to her side, said that doctors told her she needed to be admitted, and then she had the baby that night.

Stover said the doctors were like you are having a baby in 15 minutes. She added that the ordeal was terrifying for her. Stover said that she probably would not have made it through the weekend if she had not come in when she did.

Couple welcomes baby boy Kash

The couple named their baby boy Kash. He was born ten weeks early and weighed just four pounds. Stover stayed for a week at Methodist Women's Hospital, just a couple of floors up from Kash. Koesters said they went down often, ensuring the baby was good and then back up.

Both of them were hoping for future children but are now settling into being new parents practically overnight. Stover told KETV that it is real now that she has actually held him, fed him, and things like that. She added that he is actually mine.

Stover is also now listening to her body following this scary experience. She said that she does not like going to the doctor and tries to let things resolve on their own, and now she has learned you can't necessarily do that.
