The CNN anchor had a well-laid-out plan for her delivery, yet her baby girl had one too. And it is entirely different from hers.
Baby girl Grey Hunt Rivera, the second child of Katie Hunt and husband Matthew Mario Rivera, was welcomed into the world in their home, on the bathroom floor with her own daddy delivering her following mommy's "13-minute sudden labor."
The chief national affairs analyst took to Instagram Friday to announce that she and her husband are already parents of two after giving birth to a baby who had shown them her "independent streak" the first second she came out of the world.
She posted photos, with the first of herself carrying the newborn while seated on the bathroom floor with DC Fire & EMS team members at her back.
"WELCOMING HERSELF TO THE WORLD: My husband @mattmrivera & I are thrilled to introduce our daughter, Grey Hunt Rivera-though really, she introduced herself. Grey was delivered by dad on the bathroom floor after 13 minutes of labor, before we even had time to dial 911, and 24 hours before she was scheduled to arrive via C section," Hunt explained in her caption.
'Unpredictable' life ahead
Baby Grey was born Wednesday, March 1, weighing eight pounds and four ounces. The new mama shared that her older brother, three-and-a-half-year-old Mars, cannot stop talking about her.
She further shared that the baby girl was scheduled to arrive Thursday via C-section, yet she had other plans of coming a day earlier and in the most unique way possible.
In an exclusive interview with People magazine, Hunt expressed how the family is so grateful to the 911 operators and the DC Fire & EMS team, who talked them through every step needed to be done in the "incredibly intense moments" before Baby Grey was born.
She also gave a shout-out to the firefighters and paramedics who treated her and the baby while they were home and brought them safely to the Sibley Hospital, in Washington.
The news anchor is excited about doing life now as a family of four, and Baby Grey gave them a huge reminder that it will be "that much more unpredictable!"
Not the first time to make the news
Surprisingly, this is not the first time Hunt made the news about pregnancy, Today reported.
During her stint as NBC's news political correspondent in 2019, a Twitter user shamed her by calling her "fat."
The news anchor struck back smoothly with a tweet that said, "I'm 8 months pregnant?" Her response racked up heaps of support from her Twitter followers and her co-workers in the journalism community.
Just like Baby Grey, who immediately made herself known as independent, Mars too has told his parents that he has planned big things for himself the moment he arrived at nine and a half pounds, Hunt said.
