A 15-year-old boy was stabbed on the Ocean City boardwalk in New Jersey on Saturday night, police reported Sunday.

Boy Stabbed After Large Fight in NJ Boardwalk

Sgt. Dan Lancaster of the Ocean City Police Department declared that a fight emerged on the 1000 block of the boardwalk just before 9:15 p.m. on May 25. During the argument, the teen was stabbed by an anonymous male suspect, according to the police.

First responders treated the boy at the location, and he was then transferred to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City. The police verified that his wounds were not very dangerous.

Ocean City Mayor Jay A. Gillian addressed the circumstances, noting that the town faced numerous concerns connected to large groups of teens causing commotions on the boardwalk, including fights, shoplifting, and disorderly conduct at the start of Memorial Day Weekend. Gillian guaranteed residents, visitors, and business owners that such behavior would not be allowed.

Lancaster specified on Monday that the inspection is continuous, and no arrests have been made about the stabbing. However, Gillian noted that police made "multiple arrests" following the circumstances and immediately restored order to the boardwalk.

Gillian concluded with a warning to parents and teens: "If you don't want to behave, don't come."

Lancaster also reported no significant incidents on the boardwalk on Sunday night.

Videos showing a fight among a group of young people and crowds running off the boardwalk began circulating online after Saturday night's incident.

New Jersey Boardwalk Weekend's Commotions

Following the weekend's commotions, including fights and thefts, Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian released a stern caution, asserting the city's zero-tolerance stance on such behavior.

Gillian highlighted that while Ocean City remains open to all visitors, both parents and teenagers must recognize that disturbing conduct will not be allowed.

The police department imposes curfew regulations for minors, restricting their presence in public areas during particular hours.

These rules, as particularized on the department's website, desire to impede loitering and other activities that may lead to commotions.

Minors under 17 are forbidden from being in public streets, parks, or boardwalks during curfew hours unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Commenting on the chaotic circumstances, Pete Andreyev, President of the New Jersey State Police Benevolent Association, emphasized the difficulties faced by law enforcement in managing unsupervised teenagers.

He emphasized the significance of parental accountability in prohibiting such circumstances from intensifying further.

As inspections into the stabbing persist, the police department urges people with significant footage or data to come forward. They can submit proof through the given online platform or contact the detective bureau directly.
