'Avatar 2' Release Date & Trailer: New Comic Book To Leak Plot Details Of Avatar Sequel? [Rumors]

Fans of the blockbuster movie "Avatar" can't wait to see "Avatar 2." However, the sequel is still over two years away and the waiting will be long. But fans should not fret out because more and more details about the anticipated film will be revealed as we near its release date.

In an earlier report from Parent Herald, director James Cameron announced that a new comic series set on the planet of Pandora is in the works. Cameron worked with Dark Horse comics to expand the story of "Avatar" into the world of comics.

So, for "Avatar" fans who want to know the details of the Na'vi and Pandora, the comics will probably be a good source as Cameron puts it, the new series will "shed more light on the mythology and history of the beloved film franchise," The Guardian has learned.

However, aside from being an informative source, there are speculations that the comics will pave the way for the storyline of "Avatar 2."

In a short video from Entertainment Weekly, Cameron talked about the upcoming comics and his partnership with Dark Horse. He hinted that the comics will be filled with juicy details from what fans saw in the first "Avatar" to its subsequent sequels. So, probably, it will reveal the plot line of "Avatar 2"

"Dark Horse comics will be bringing you new adventures from Pandora, covering the time before, during and after the events of the original Avatar film," Cameron said.

The writer-director also shared that Dark Horse has been associated with several of his films, including "The Terminator," "Aliens" and "The Abyss."

"Now they're working directly with me and our team at Lightstorm in an unprecedented 10 year partnership. It's gonna create new stories that will take you deeper into the world of Avatar," said the director. "It's my pleasure to welcome Dark Horse Comics to the Avatar family and we hope that all of you will join us on these fantastic new adventures as the Na'vi would say irayo. Thank you."

According to the Inquisitr, the comic book might tease how Col. Miles Quaritch survived from his near death in the first "Avatar" where he was shot by Neytiri with an arrow twice on his chest. Actually, many think that Stephen Lang's character is dead until Cameron announced that Lang will reprise his role in "Avatar 2" and on the next two sequels.

Despite Lang's villainous character in the franchise, there are fans who think his character is the true hero in the story because unlike James Sully (Sam Worthington) who chose to abandon his mission to fight with the Na'vi, Col. Quaritch was there to protect a team of scientist and stick with their mission.

Here's a tribute for Col. Quaritch from fans who look up to him.

"Avatar 2" premieres on Dec. 25, 2017.
